Ok, ok, I'm exaggerating. :) Cigna excludes MGB. So we asked our doctor to send in a letter requesting an exception to that exclusion on medical grounds. We provided her with what WE thought would constitute medical grounds plus copies of the supporting studies. She faxed that to Cigna Oct. 22. Their response, which they got, uhm, not this week but last week, said that they needed the letter from the surgeon with the specific details about the surgery, including CPT codes. We'd JUST gotten that last week. She faxed it to Cigna on Monday. So now we're waiting to hear back. What we're expecting is for them to deny authorization.
That means we need to get the state ombudsman and our benefits folks involved and appeal that decision. Which will be another long process.
I've just got seriously low morale right now. I've completely stopped exercising, and my blood glucose is just out of control. *sigh* I just want the damn surgery. That on top of Dad's heart attack night before last, and I keep finding the tunnel being extended, with the light tantalizing me from afar.
